ACCP Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds on
Thursday, July 17, 2025, which will feature Jeffrey Keller, MD.
Seeking to better meet the educational needs of members, the ACCP has decided to test different days and times for Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds. The July Grand Rounds session will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
For this session of Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds, the ACCP will feature Jeff Keller, MD—a renowned speaker, friend of correctional medicine, and current president of the ACCP. Jeff will speak on appropriate responses to grievances in the correctional medicine setting. CME credit application is submitted to the AAFP.
The ACCP’s current president, Jeffrey Keller, MD was awarded the B. Jaye Anno Award of Excellence in Communication in 2023 for his work as author of the Jail Medicine blog and the book “The Best of Jail Medicine.” He is an amusing and very informative speaker and will address the topic of grievances in corrections.
Jeffrey E. Keller is a Board Certified Emergency Physician with 25 years of emergency medicine practice experience before moving full-time into his “true calling” of correctional medicine. He has been the medical director of Badger Medical, which has provided medical services to several jails and juvenile facilities in Idaho. Dr. Keller is a Fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Correctional Physicians.

Title: “The Clinical Importance of Appropriate Responses to Medical Grievances in Corrections”
During this session, we will seek participants’ guidance on various aspects of the Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds program. We hope you can attend for what will be a great networking and educational opportunity and your opportunity to give input into the program itself.
Objectives:
1) Understand the legal importance of medical grievances in correctional settings.
2) Learn when a knowledgeable medical person needs to respond.
3) Become proficient at distinguishing more important or urgent grievances.
4) Master the art of proper, timely clinical responses to appropriate grievances.

This Grand Rounds session, as usual, will be one hour in duration and will include ample time for questions, discussion, and networking. At this time, Grand Rounds sessions are free to all attendees. CME credit through the American Academy of Family Physicians. Nursing, PA, and Mental Health credit is also possible through agreements between the AAFP and your professional organizations.
