MARK YOUR CALENDAR for ACCP Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds on Wednesday,           

June 11, 2025, which will feature Todd Wilcox, MD.  

Dr. Todd Wilcox is a renowned speaker, friend of correctional medicine, and past president of the ACCP. He will speak on common gastrointestinal (“GI”) problems in the correctional medicine setting. Most of us know Dr. Wilcox to be an informative speaker with a clear, concise style. We hope that you will attend what we expect to be a helpful instructional session.

Dr. Wilcox has served as the Medical Director of the Salt Lake County Jail System for sixteen years. During his tenure he has assisted Salt Lake County in transforming its healthcare system into one of the most modern and technologically advanced correctional systems in the country. He specializes in acute care medicine, orthopedic and sports injuries, and HIV medicine.

He completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University followed by medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He also has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah and an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Salt Lake Community College.

Title:  “Evaluation and Treatment of Common GI Conditions in the Correctional Setting”

During this session, we will seek participants’ guidance on various aspects of the Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds program. We hope you can attend for what will be a great networking and educational opportunity and your opportunity to give input into the program itself.

Objectives:

1) Understand common and key gastrointestinal (“GI”) disorders in the corrections setting.

2) Learn important elements in diagnosing and treating GI disorders.

3) Distinguish urgent GI circumstances to assist nursing with proper triage.

4) Discuss when non-urgent specialty referral is necessary.

Grand Rounds will continue to be held on the SECOND Wednesday of every month at 7:30 PM Eastern time. This Grand Rounds session, as usual, will be one hour in duration and will include ample time for questions, discussion, and networking. At this time, all Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds educational sessions are free to all attendees. CME credit through the American Academy of Family Physicians is pending. Nursing, PA, and Mental Health credit is also possible through agreements between the AAFP and your professional organizations.

We encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues to attend this session, which will inform us on practical measures we can take to improve care for hand infections in the correctional setting.
