The American College of Correctional Physicians (“ACCP,” “we,” “us”) operates accpmed.org. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

When you contact us, register for an event, subscribe to a publication, or join or renew your membership, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, professional title, employer, and mailing address.

Membership applications, renewals, member login, and payments are handled by our membership platform, Member365, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Information collected automatically

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, grouped into three categories. Only the first category runs without your permission.

Strictly necessary

These remember your cookie preferences and keep the site working. They cannot be turned off.

Analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors arrive. This information is reported to us in aggregate.

Marketing

With your permission, we use:

• Google Ads conversion measurement, which tells us whether visitors who arrive from our Google ads go on to take actions such as contacting us or joining. ACCP receives advertising support through the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits.
• VisitorEmail, a visitor identification service provided through our marketing partner, Nonprofit Megaphone. When enabled, it may match your browser or device to contact information, such as a name and email address, drawn from third-party data sources. We use this information to send you email about ACCP membership, education, publications, and events.

These marketing technologies do not run unless you accept marketing cookies.

Your cookie choices

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics and marketing cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of every page.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of marketing cookies and any sale or sharing of your personal information, and we apply it automatically.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• respond to your inquiries and provide member services
• send you information about ACCP membership, education, publications, and events
• understand and improve how our website is used
• measure the effectiveness of our advertising

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us operate, and only for the purposes above:

• Google (analytics and advertising measurement)
• Nonprofit Megaphone and its VisitorEmail service (advertising management and visitor identification)
• Member365 (membership management)

We do not sell your personal information for money.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Email from ACCP

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we will stop sending you marketing email promptly. You may still receive messages related to an active membership or event registration.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• know what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
• correct inaccurate information
• request that we delete your information
• opt out of targeted advertising and any sale or sharing of your personal information

To make a request, email jessica@accpmed.org. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it. We will respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to your appeal within 60 days.

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Children

Our website is intended for healthcare professionals and the public, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
